Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku and N’Golo Kante should both be available again in time to face Arsenal, but Ruben Loftus-Cheek will miss out.

Speaking after Chelsea’s weekend victory over Crystal Palace, Thomas Tuchel confirmed their latest fitness and availability updates for their following game against Arsenal.

New signing Romelu Lukaku didn’t play any part in the squad at the weekend, and N’Golo Kante also missed out, but both are expected to return in time for the Arsenal clash. On the other hand, Ruben Loftus-Cheek won’t be available after his positive Covid test.

“I think N’Golo will be back in the middle of the week to be ready for Arsenal,” Tuchel said. “Ruben has, unfortunately, had a positive test on Thursday. He is in isolation and following the protocol and that’s why he isn’t in the team.

“Romelu is out of quarantine [on Sunday] and in training on Tuesday as Monday is a day off. We will prepare him to be ready for Arsenal. Hopefully, he can be on the pitch.”

Sky Sports also report that Lukaku is expected to be involved against Arsenal. After they spent just under £100m to sign him, it’s not exactly surprising they’re trying to get him playing as quickly as possible.

Considering Arsenal’s recent struggles, they actually have a surprisingly good record against Chelsea, winning the last three in a row and only losing three of the last 14. But the odds are certainly stacking up against the Gunners this time around.
