Report: Chelsea owner Abramovich prioritises striker whom Mason Mount called 'brilliant' over Erling Haaland

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is above Erling Haaland on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s transfer wish list, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Blues want a new striker this summer, and the report suggests they are interested in two strikers in particular; Kane and Haaland.

One is arguably the best striker in the Premier League and the other one is one of the most exciting goalscorers in Europe at the moment — neither of these two would be easy to sign or come cheap.

Interestingly, Di Marzio claims that Abramovich considers bringing Haaland to Stamford Bridge would be more complicated than finding a transfer agreement with London rivals over their best player.

This claim contradicts an earlier report from Tuttomercatoweb that claimed Halaand was of Abramovich’s priority target.

But that report came in February, and at that point, Kane did not seem to be anywhere near being available in the transfer market.

Di Marzio further added that Chelsea are ready to spend €70million (£60.4m) for the England international.

Although, that is surprisingly a low budget for such an elite striker who won three Premier League Golden Boots in the last six seasons.

We all also know the transfer history — or rather lack thereof — between Spurs and Chelsea.

The Italian journalist also mentioned Chelsea are very insistent on signing Kane despite incoming Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici’s wanting to make sure that the striker stays in north London, at least for another year.

Chelsea are not the only interested party, however, as Manchester City are also reportedly in the race for Kane following Sergio Aguero’s departure.

Mason Mount enjoys playing alongside Kane

If anyone at Chelsea want to see Kane in Blue, it would be Mount.

The Chelsea player of the season clearly loves linking up with the 27-year-old at the national team.

“He’s brilliant for us [England] ,” Mount said about Kane in a press conference back in March (via FourFourTwo).

“We want him to drop in those positions to link everything up because he is so good at it, as you’ve seen for setting up my goal.

“He sees the passes, he’s very good with the ball vision-wise and picking people out.

“So for him to drop deeper and get the ball and turn it is brilliant for us because then we have runners.”
