Makinde Reveals New Measures To Tackle Insecurity In Ibarapa, Oke-Ogun
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has deployed operatives of the Amotekun security outfit to Ibarapa Local Government Area of the state as part of efforts to curb tension in the area.
The Governor made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
He explained that the move was made after meeting with stakeholders including the newly deployed Police Commissioner in the state, Ngozi Onadeko.
The governor revealed that he would redeploy 200 members of the Oyo State Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun to kidnapping/banditry hotspots in the Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun zones.
He added that continuous dialogue will be maintained with members of the community by holding town hall meetings and bringing together residents and security agencies to talk about resolving issues through dialogue and effective community policing.
Makinde stated that there will be documentation of foreigners, especially those who are working in mines, saying this will ensure that only those with legitimate interests remain in Oyo.
