One Mind! Spain Coach Fernando Hierro Leaves Job After World Cup Exit
Fernando Hierro has stepped down from his function as Sporting Director of the Spanish Football Association, following their round-of-16 exit on the 2018 World Cup.
Hierro was sensationally appointed head coach on the eve of the match, after earlier boss Julen Lopetegui was fired for agreeing to take the Real Madrid job.
The Spanish FA on Sunday, stated in a press release, that the 50-year-old had determined towards returning to his previous function and would as a substitute search a brand new problem.
“[Hierro] rejected going back to his former position as the RFEF sporting director, to look for new horizons and face new professional challenges,” the assertion learn.
“After two stints because the federation sporting director, the primary one between 2007 and 2011 – which was one of the best period of the senior nationwide group, when it gained the European Championship underneath Luis Aragones as coach in 2008 and the 2010 World Cup with Vicente del Bosque – and a second stint from November 2007 till now.
“The RFEF needs to thank Fernando Hierro for his compromise and sense of obligation when taking the reigns of the nationwide group underneath extraordinary circumstances, in addition to performing all his duties.
“The federation needs to focus on the skilled and private values of a rare athlete, and we want him one of the best.”
