Popular Freelance Journalist Makes Shocking Revelation About UK Returnee’s Death In Ilorin
Soyombo alleged that, the deceased was a COVID-19 patient in a series of tweets, on Saturday. Recall that the state government, through the technical committee for COVID-19 had denied that the state has not recorded coronavirus death.
Soyombo made the revelation via his personal tweeter account, @fisayosyombo.
The tweets read, “On Thursday there was a COVID-19 death in Ilorin. But it won’t make it to @NCDCgov’s official count because the powers that be did everything to cover it up.
” The bigwigs at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) knew. The state govt did, too.
” After his death, they ensured the body wasn’t tested for the virus. The deceased was buried on Fri without scientific confirmation of COVID-19, but two hospital staff have been giving me deatils of events that led to his death.
“You know why? They, like others, feel unsafe. 2/7
” After returning from the UK, the deceased initially self-isolated in Lagos, before his professor-of-medicine-friend invited him to Ilorin, where he privately received treatment.
“On Day 13, his condition worsened. so he was taken to UITH. 3/7
” He was to be moved to the isolation ward bt there was an “order from above” for him to remain at the A&E.
“Until he started showing severe COVID-19 symptoms, the docs who attended to him didn’t know it was the virus; this was a patient of their bosses.
“He died shortly after 4/7.
” Meanwhile, he’d had contact with docs, nurses and other patients.
“The state govt & the hospital both rejected this as a COVID-19 case.
” The state govt claims the death was due to “respiratory illness” while the hospital says it was from “food poisoning”.
“However:
5/7
“1. The ambulance that evacuated the corpse was not allowed back into the hospital premises.
” 2. Docs, nurses & pharmacists who potentially had contact with him are now on chloroquine prophylaxis & isolation.
“3. The Medical Emergency has been shut down & fumigation initiated 6/7
” Two professors of medicine — the one who housed the diseased & the one who pulled the strings to halt his transfer to the isolation ward — betrayed their colleagues.
“This potential COVID spread in UITH was preventable.
” May ‘man know man’ not kill us in this country! 7/7″, Soyombo tweeted.
Read full statement released by the committee for COVID-19 through the Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye on Friday.
“The Kwara Technical Committee on COVID-19 wishes to clarify that the state has not recorded any confirmed case of COVID-19 as of now. All the six samples tested from Kwara have returned negative.
“The committee states that there is no fact, at this moment to support suggestions that a male patient who died on Wednesday night at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital was a COVID-19 patient.
“Findings by the medical advisory subcommittee revealed that the patient and his wife arrived from the United Kingdom and reportedly came to Ilorin on March 20.
“The patient went into self-quarantine without reaching out to the government or the technical committee.
“On the 13th day of the self-quarantine, he suddenly had difficulties breathing after reportedly eating dinner and was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
” Efforts to resuscitate him proved abortive and he was pronounced dead.
*The deceased, a Muslim, was promptly taken to Offa, his hometown, where he was interred on Thursday.
“Owing to the travel history of the deceased, all the medics who attended to him at the UITH have gone into self-quarantine.
” Similarly, family members who have had contact with the deceased and his wife have been directed to do same.
“For abundance of caution, samples have been taken from his wife and four others and results are expected in the coming days.
The committee hereby repeats that there is no record that the UITH patient ever tested positive for the virus,’’ Ajakaye said.
