Rivers Court Sentences Six To Death By Hanging Over Murder



A High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has sentenced six persons to death by hanging over the murder of two persons during a youth election at Ke community in the Degema Local Government Area of the state.

The two persons, Lucky Moses and Iminabo Iginikon, were allegedly killed on October 3, 2004 by the six convicted persons.


The trial judge, Justice Emmanuel Ogbuji, in his judgment, said the six accused persons were guilty of murder, adding that he relied on their in reaching the verdict.

A charge sheet, marked DHC/2C/2006 on the matter made available to our correspondent, gave the names of the six convicts as Ibiso Erekosima, Okparanta Joshua, Adaye Dakoru, Ngeriebokoa Benibo, Onari Ekine and Benebo Duke Erekosima.
