Apart from the fact that the wages of Nigerian politicians is one of the highest in the world, the amount of looted public funds they control makes them stupidly rich.

This list is compiled based on their investments while in public office and after.

In no particular order, below is our own top 5 richest Nigerian politician at the moment;

1. Ibrahim Babangida

The name IBB used to be a big one back then in military rule era in Nigeria.

He has been referred to as the richest politician in the history of Nigeria as he had held several post as a military man including the post of the Head Of State.

Ibrahim Babangida has been reported to have looted lots of money during his tenure as military head of state.

Apart from being the owner of a multi-million dollar mansion in Niger State, he owns 65% of Fruitex International Limited in London24% of Globacom Nigeria amidst numerous real estate investments.

2. Olusegun Obasanjo

As a certified Military and Civilian President in Nigeria, Obasanjo was able to acquire wealth just like other politicians in Nigeria.

Even though OBJ boasts to be a farmer but being Farmer as president was believed to have boosted his farm to be one of the largest chicken poultries in West Africa.

He owns Oil Block and it’s been estimated that OBJ is involved in over 6.5% of the major oil production, marketing and distribution in Nigeria.

During his days at customs, he established a logistics company, Nigeria Container Services (NICOTES) which was later renamed to INTELS.

His company, INTELS was at the fore-front of money laundering allegations leveled against him by the US government during his vice-presidency days.

Atiku is a billionaire by all standards, he owns an oil servicing business, he is also the owner of Adama Beverages Limited, apart from this, he is also the owner of the American University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola, Adamawa State.
