UPDATE! Appointment of KWASU Vice Chancellor; Call for Equity, Fairness and Justice
The news of the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor for KWASU came to us with a rude shock. The University no doubt is a patrimony of the three Senatorial districts of Kwara State.
The pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof. Na’Allah is an indigene of Ilorin in the Kwara central senatorial district. The man spent unprecedented two terms. Justice and Equity demands that the next Vice Chancellor should either come from the North or South Senatorial district.
From available information, the process for the selection of a new V.C had long been concluded and the Acting Vice Chancellor has been recommended by the Governing Council to succeed the formal Vice Chancellor.
It is however surprising that another Ilorin person from Kwara central has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor.
The Omo Ibile Igbomina hereby call on His Excellency to reverse this decision which is capable of destroying the unity and harmony that exists between the three senatorial districts. The choice of the V.C from Ilorin is unfair to the other two senatorial districts who are co-owners of the University.
Since the Acting Vice Chancellor has earlier been recommended and he is from the Kwara North senatorial district, we call on the Governor to approve the recommendation and appoint him accordingly in the interest of justice, fairness and equity.
In his inaugural speech, His Excellency made it clear that he is for the whole Kwara and not for a particular tribe or religion. We therefore call on His Excellency to walk the talk and do the needful for posterity sake.
Comrade Oni Martins
National P.R.O. Omo Ibile Igbomina.
