With Magu’s Corruption Record As EFCC Chairman, Is EFCC Truly Fighting Corruption?

It’s funny how someone employed to catch a thief is the boss thief.

Few days ago, former acting EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu was hunted down to face panel over several corruption charges.

Many of the Charges include misappropriation of recovered funds, favouritism of some corrupt politiciansand of course his lifestyle is more than his basic earnings as EFCC boss.

For the leader of an anti-corruption agency like EFCC to be involved in a series of financial crimes, it means corruption is already in the EFCC system.

Some Of The Accusation Levelled Against Magu Are As Follows;

📌 Alleged discrepancies in the reconciliation records of the EFCC and the Federal Ministry of Finance on recovered funds.

📌 Not respecting court order to unfreeze a N7 billion judgement in favour of a former executive director of a bank;

📌 Not providing enough evidence for the extradition of Diezani Alison-Madueke

📌 Alleged delay in acting on two vessels seized by the Navy

📌 Alleged favouring of some investigators called Magu Boys

📌 Alleged sale of seized assets to cronies, associates and friends and many more

Apparently, top officials in the EFCC are now friends with many corrupt politicians in Nigeria.

It is sure that most corrupt politicians in Nigeria would be giving houses, expensive cars and other goodies as gifts to EFCC officials.

No wonder, the major target of EFCC in recent times are Yahoo Boys thereby leaving the corrupt politicians to enjoy public funds in peace.
